Making a brand for myself was incredibly difficult because I am a very diverse individual and it was hard to focus on just a couple ideas. Anamaye is a nickname that I received because I had a friend who just couldn’t remember my name. He eventually decided to call me Anamaye and it stuck. I also enjoy hand lettering and calligraphy and wanted a unique typeface for my unique name.
I decided to use my tattoos as an inspiration because they are visual representations of the things I have gone through in my life and my ability to come out victorious. I love the ocean, aquatic animals, and japanese art and often draw my inspirtation from these elements. Koi fish represent strength, courage, and strong character while Cherry blossoms are the symbol for fragility of life and beauty. All of these things are very much a part of me.
